Several NOHOA board members and homeowners gathered to visit, review the HOA document modernization proposals, and discuss overall neighborhood ideas.  Highlights of this discussion include:

  • The proposed updates to the documents seem to be appropriate and received overall approval from those present.  Specific comments included:

    • Sex offender ban  - this is an important provision. a question as to how this would be enforceable was brought up.  Board members can contact our attorneys to gather further information.

    • Short-term rentals - as this doesn't seem to be an issue right now, some wondered if we needed to include this provision at this time

    • Electronic communications and voting - this should be explored for future votes and to enable easier owner participation in the HOA

    • Indemnification of Board Members  -  this provision is primarily to align our document language with statute and be more clear.

  • Abbott Downing median - can we approach the Bob Webb neighborhood to seek their contribution to the upkeep of the trees/lawn in the median.  Board will follow-up

  • Future neighborhood activities - strong consensus to establish some type of annual neighborhood "fun" activity, such as Kids Parade and block party, Party in the Park (aka SUNY95 party a few years ago)

  • Overland Trail speeding - the new signs seem to be working overall (a few exceptions not withstanding)

  • Annual Meeting - a reminder to attend the annual meeting and/or send in proxy forms to vote for a next board member.

Stop by to chat with HOA board members.   We are interested in your comments about proposed bylaw and declaration changes as well as any other questions or suggestions you might have for the HOA.   Or, just stop by to say "Hi!" and enjoy some neighborhood company.
